Fixed Ball Joint

Fixed ball joints, also known as Rzeppa joints, are used on the wheel side of constant-velocity shafts on the front axle. They allow a large articulation angle during homokinetic torque transmission. Conventionally, the torque is transmitted via splines to the wheel hub. Alternatively, Hirth teeth can also be used. These are produced ready for assembly by means of cold forging and, thanks to strain hardening, do not require any additional hardening process. The use of Hirth teeth reduces production costs, lowers system weight and makes assembly easier.
